Questi fanno roba per tantissime macchine anche medio formato,addirittura per alcune digitali, e il sistema che usano per il taglio mi sembra molto valido.
Si, vedrai che i tempi saranno abbastanza rispettati, di fatto loro ti chiedono di avvisarli nel caso la consegna slitti oltre il decimo giorno.
Per quella che è la mia esperienza al massimo è slittata di 2/3 giorni, ma ovviamente la cosa non è imputabile a chi spedisce, quindi prima di segnalare conviene essere un pò più elastici, considerando il ns. sistema postale.
Beh per il momento l'ho portata con me in versione "naked" (come le moto) e ho provato un po' di scatti... le sensazioni che trasmette nello scattare vanno ben oltre la precisione meccanica!!
Leica IIIb - the un-appreciated and neglected "Barnack" camera.
The Leica IIIb is the most neglected, ignored and unappreciated of all the “Barnack” Leica cameras.This is a great pity since the Leica IIIb has many good points of merit.
I myself have been interested in this model of the “Barnack” Leica since my teens when I read about the early years of the Second World War in England. I was born in Manchester in the North West of England in May 1940.The cities of Manchester and Liverpool were the target of the Nazi Luftwaffe night bombing raids particularly for Manchester the intensive attacks that took place between the 22nd and 24th December 1940 became known as the Manchester Christmas Blitz when most of the centre of the city was wiped out.
From what I read the captured and downed Luftwaffe planes during and after these raids were equipped with Leica IIIb cameras and it was stated this model was supplied to the aircrew on most night bombing raids on English cities during the years 1940/1941.
What then are the main improvements and benefits built into this camera that earlier Barnack camera’s lacked.
1. The diopter adjustment lever was moved from the rangefinder window to a position coaxial to the rewind knob.This meant that the diopter adjustment lever no longer had to be reset after opening and closing the E.R.case.
2. The rangefinder and viewfinder eyepiece windows were combined into one dual eyepiece which became the standard for all later screw mount camera models.IIIc – IIIg.
3.The viewfinder was modified by placing prisms in the viewfinder path which gave the viewfinder a more defined and sharper image.This improvement became standard for all later screw mount camera models.IIIc – IIIg.
4.The lens flange was fitted to the body with brass inserts so that the camera flange could take the weight of the heavier telephoto lenses being produced ( 73mm Hektor,90mm Thambar,135 Elmar/Hektor, and 200mm & 400mm Telyt lenses).Some of the flanges of models II – IIIa when used with these heavier lenses had become damaged(Warped).
5. The main body was strengthened with internal stiffeners which gave a more rigid and sturdier main body frame.
6.The accessory shoe was affixed with 4 screws (instead of 3) which made it more secure along with a centre bump and the 2 added springs.A feature that was added to most of the later screw mount cameras.
7. Ball bearings were fitted in the shutter and film transport mechanisms ( the first Leica camera to have them and a standard fitment in all later screw mount cameras IIIc - IIIg)
All these improvements were contained within the sleek 133mm Barnack camera which gave a much improved viewfinder image, a more rigid and sturdier body with various other mechanical improvements.
With all the added improvements the Leica IIIb camera is the best and last of the hand-built true “Barnack”cameras.
Many Leica IIIb’s were used by the German military just like the later IIIc’s and many Leica IIIb’s were produced with military engravings.So there is something for the collector to seek out.
Finally there are the extremely rare BLACK Leica IIIb Cameras.
On the 3rd September 1938 Leitz Wetzlar shipped to Ernst Leitz New York five BLACK Leica IIIb’s (possibly a special order)
Serial numbers 295,301 – 295,305 along with five black paint Summar lenses with serial numbers 446,261 – 446265.
This is the only record of Black Leica IIIb’s and Summar lenses being produced and supplied.
I am sure that somewhere in ELNY’s records in the U.S. these five cameras and lenses must be recorded as to who placed the original order with ELNY and to where they went in the U.S.after leaving ELNY.
Perhaps some Leica enthusiast in the U.S could research this shipment.
I read that the German Leica expert Lars Nepotil has sighted camera serial number 295,302 in original black paint condition.
So, in the meantime, U.S. Leica enthusiasts should check those garage sales, someone might be lucky and bag one of the rarest black cameras ever produced by Leitz.
